New adventures with presenting :) 2016 & onwards

A week ago, I attended a course I had dreamt of for a while: TV presenting training with TV academy in Pinewood Studios. I love being creative, and MUSIC will always stay & have a special place in my life. Acting is a big love too, but sadly due to my French / Polish background, I only got to be cast as lovers, cleaners, prostitutes or other country stereotypes. A few years ago I discovered how much I love travelling, and so, going back to my journalist background, I have for long thought of learning more about working as TV presenter to meet incredible people from all around the world & e.g. film a series around my one more love: TEA :). I worked as a presenter before, but tt was amazing to meet fellow presenters, including Finnish documentary maker Iris Olsson (see below), and hone our skills together . It was hard work, especially as I was suffering from a nasty cold, but also great fun to practice writing scripts, learning all the ins and out of the studio, and working with the camera. I simply cannot wait to share with you the end result – my final presenter showreel.     I hope the training will help me experience adventures all around our beautiful planet & visit places I have not even heard of! Stay tuned and cross fingers 🙂...

Star Wars & me… & the proof I am an alien! :)

Finally… After months of so many friends & fans asking me so many questions about what how when & who, I can reveal… what my character looked like on the set of latest Star Wars movie 🙂 And well, yep – it looks simply.. like me 🙂 With a big hair! There, in print, lies the proof that I have always been an alien 🙂 thanks to Vanity Fair and the photoshoot by one and only Annie Leibovitz. I still cannot say anything about the plot, other characters I met, or what happened in my scene.  For that, we will have to wait another few more months 🙂  ...

Filming a commercial

….. is a lot of fun! A lot of hard work too, but mostly fun 🙂 Last year I auditioned for a commercial… not a big role but a nice one. Every actor knows commercials are all about looks and luck –  they audition hundreds of people and all is about the right look so you may do your best but not be chosen due to someone in the marketing team of the product thinking they need a more blond or more brunette or more this or that actor / actress. So it is rare people get confirmed for a lot of commercial work… I have always known that, BUT at the same time, & around the time of the casting for that project I decided to be positive and ask universe for what I wanted no matter what.. It is not easy – seeing others equally good and prepared, worrying about your looks including cat scratches on your hand ;), worrying about the right make up etc etc etc. All decided in minutes! Yet, throughout the whole process, I promised myself I would stay positive… even when in a terrible accident I cut my head in the middle of the night and had to be rushed to emergency  – even then, crying like a baby I explained to the doctor on call that they have to put great stitches on my wound because ” I am shooting a commercial in January” despite having no confirmation at the time.  Yesterday it all happened as I imagined – I was dressed in some beautiful clothes and with some lovely people worked on...

Acting & meetings with fellow creative souls :)

Acting was my first stage love, and it is still very dear to my heart 🙂 Music came later and my songs are my dearest ‘ babies’ but I still love working as an actress on various creative projects. Last night I was honoured to take part in an amazing acting workshop with a Casting Director Lucy Rands. Unfortunately I could only learn my lines for the scene I was selected for on the train to the very workshop, but thanks to having good memory, I managed to memorize all in just under an hour & perform the material with another actress.  It was incredible to be told afterwards, by several of the fellow actors who took part in the workshop, that according to them, I was “one of the best & I delivered the scene very well”. I was nearly sure that due to lack of time and preparation I would simply… run away & not show up, but I am very happy to report that hard work & courage paid off! The scene was difficult and challenging (I hated my character a bit! 🙂 )  but I tried my best & was truly delighted & humbled by comments I received. And it looks like I will work on an incredible project soon with one of new friends I met!   If you would like to see me act, have a look at my showreel below 🙂 Fingers crossed for more work very soon!
